SecureBlackbox 16: A Component Library for PGP-Compatible OpenPGP in .NET


The OpenPGPBlackbox package of SecureBlackbox is a collection of classes and components that enable you to add support for OpenPGP in your desktop, server, and mobile applications. The components for C#., VB.NET, and ASP.NET offer an authentic implementation of the OpenPGP standard (RFC 2440 and RFC 4880). OpenPGPBlackbox is fully compatible with the BouncyCastle library, GnuPG, and PGP Desktop to the extent in which these applications and libraries comply with the OpenPGP standard. You can use OpenPGPBlackbox in .NET applications on web servers, desktops, and mobile platforms (iOS, Android, and Windows Phone / Windows Mobile).

The full scope of OpenPGP operations is supported, such as key generation and management, file signing and encryption, and creation of self-extracting OpenPGP archives. The option, introduced by PGP Desktop, to place several files with data into one OpenPGP archive is supported as well.

Getting Started

OpenPGPBlackbox is a part of the SecureBlackbox suite, which is offered for evaluation as the complete suite. After downloading the installation package, follow the steps below to get starting with the rapid development of OpenPGP applications:

  1. Download the installation package from the Download page.
  2. Unpack the downloaded ZIP file and run it to install the components and supplementary files (documentation and samples) to your local disk.
  3. Start using the components. SecureBlackbox requires that you provide it with the license key. You will find the evaluation license key in <SecureBlackbox>\LicenseKey.txt file.
  4. If you need assistance, please read the included documentation (also available online, in addition to the FAQ and forum).
  5. Run the sample code (by default it is installed in the <SecureBlackbox>\Samples folder)
  6. Ask for help in HelpDesk, the right place for individual support.
